October Mayors Message

10/1/2024

MAYOR’S MESSAGE

Despite unseasonably warm temperatures at press time, fall is upon us.  Regen and I recently took our once-each-decade, scenic, leaf peeping day trip. First, a stop in Perry for some fresh picked and melt in your mouth fruit, followed by a scenic drive through Logan Canyon, a burger and token raspberry shake in Garden City, followed by a loop through Randolph and Woodruff, then back over our own Monte Cristo.  Leaves were at their peak, and Logan Canyon is always beautiful, but Ogden Canyon won out for the most amazing part of the drive.   While road construction is frustrating, I hope you have been able to sneak a peek of nature’s beauty during your drives through the canyon.   We live in an incredible place.

Huntsville Marathon

Following a three year break, the Huntsville Marathon was revived this year -  the 11th running since its inception.   Thanks to Huntsville Native Lindsey Ketchum, daughter of lifelong Huntsville resident Scott Roberts, and her hundreds of volunteers, for orchestrating another successful, world class event.

Over the years, the marathon has given back to Huntsville, and other Ogden Valley Non Profits, in a big way - over $500,000. Our course is also fast.  In 2021, Jason Lynch, of Kaysville, beat the Utah State record by nearly two minutes, with a time of 2:13:05 - a record that will likely stand for a very long time.

That’s all for now.  Thanks for being great neighbors and friends.
