Code Enforcement

Huntsville is a beautiful place. Residents work very hard to maintain the healthy, rural atmosphere they call home. Code Enforcement helps to support these desires to maintain a safe and desirable community. This is done by assisting residents and property owners to be in compliance with Huntsville Town codes in a friendly, fair, and impartial manner.

Huntsville Town employs a part time code enforcement officer who will work with residents and property owners to bring properties into compliance with expectations established for health and safety. The Code Enforcement Officer also investigates complaints of Municipal Code violations relating to health, safety, nuisances, and housing and zoning violations via personal contact/interview, U.S mail, telephone, and email. These health and safety standards can be found in Huntsville Town Municipal Code - Title 2. 

How do I get a concern or a nuisance addressed?

To inquire about or report a potential code violation within Huntsville Town, please contact the code enforcement specialist, Chris Tremea at 801-540-7094 or email at code.enforcement@huntsvilleutah.gov . Be prepared to provide the address of the violation (even if approximate), a description of the violation, and your contact information in case the Town needs additional information. 

Resolution 2024-03-28 was adopted in May of 2024 to give guidance on filing a formal complaint. It is the policy of Huntsville Town to recoup the costs related to Enforcement Actions and discourage complaints that lack probably cause, are duplicative, and/or that are retaliatory in nature.  Enforcement Actions are initiated by the submission of a Code Violation Complaint to the Town Clerk along with the payment of a $50.00 fee, subject to the following provisions:

1) Complainant may choose not to identify themselves and may remain anonymous.  Be advised that the Town Attempts to keep complainants confidential.  However, certain information is subject to state record laws and constitutional considerations that may require disclosure of the identity of a complainant.

2) A Town officer, acting in their official capacity, may submit a Code Violation Complaint without paying the respective fee.  A Code Violation Complaint submitted by a Town officer shall not be anonymous.

3) The fee is refundable where complaints are found to have probable cause and enforcement action is pursued.  No fee will be charged if there is a current enforcement action for the same complaint.

After a violation is reported, and the code enforcement fee of $50 is paid, the code enforcement specialist will investigate and determine the nature and extent of the violation.
