Please help keep ALL motor vehicles' out of Pineview

Motorized vehicles may only be used in areas specifically designated on Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUMs).  Pineview Reservoir is not one of these designated areas.  As additional areas of the reservoir become exposed during receding water levels, motorized vehicle use will still be prohibited.

 Motorized vehicle use at Pineview Reservoir is also restricted to protect local natural resources. Driving on the exposed lakebed can impact water quality and fish populations through fuel and oil seepage, increase bank erosion, and damage nesting and shoreline bird habitat as well as other aquatic species habitat.  There is also a risk to public safety. There is a likelihood of getting stuck, as well as risk of unmarked hazards around the lakebed. 

 The MVUM is required under the 2005 Final Travel Management Rule and reflects official travel management decisions for each national forest. The maps identify National Forest System roads, trails, and areas open to motorized use, including types of vehicles allowed, seasonal restrictions, and other travel regulations. If a route or area does not appear on the MVUM, it is not open to public motorized use. Some designated routes may not be signed on the ground, so it is the public’s responsibility to consult the MVUM to ensure they travel on authorized motorized routes.  Visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/r04/uinta-wasatch-cache/maps-guides for more information.
